Plenty of the typical wave happened too, but we actually had a guy in a wave costume.

They've got it on the Wikipedia page...

Edit: And I played water polo.

Gasp

Holy shit that's creepy.

I cannot find a picture online, but 15 years ago, my school's mascot was a flat-looking, red wooden shoe named Woody.

I don't think I've ever seen a school here with a mascot... It must be more a Yank thing to do.

But if I can contribute anything at all; the uni I attend when abbreviated is FU... There's that...

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

Fort Lauderdale High's Flying L's. Yup, it's just the letter L with wings. Good job, Fort Lauderdale.

RE: Silly School names/mascots
The only schools I can remember with team names/mascots were my two high schools:

Racine St. Catherine's (Catholic): Angels
Racine Horlick (Public): Rebels

"Rebels" had nothing to do with the Civil War. From Wikipedia:

"The school's official mascot is Polaris, the North Star. However, Horlick is better known by its unofficial mascot, the Rebel Yeller. The change occurred in the 1940s when Russ Rebholz, known as "Reb", was the head coach of both the football and boys' basketball teams. The nickname "Rebels" developed from his name, is still in use today."

The athletic conference for St. Catherine's included only Catholic schools. One of them was Pius XI high school in Milwaukee. Their teams were the Popes. The girls' teams were the "Lady Popes", which I always found hilarious.

But nothing can beat the Pekin Chinks (I kid you not) from Pekin, Illinois. They did change the name back in the 80s:

Which one is the mascot?

I actually forgot about this one until just now. This was the actual name of the Pekin IL high school mascot. I believe it was eventually changed in the late 70's

I'm sure it meant "the chinks in the armor of that dragon on our billboard", but sometimes you just gotta wonder, "WTF were they thinking!?!
