I saw a specie of moth I had never seen before--a hummingbird moth--exquisite really.

My son, my youngest, will be 27 in a few days.

He posted on FB that a teenager had just called him sir. Bwahahahahaha!

What's wrong with being called 'sir'?

It has implied superiority toward the receiver.

I can't wait for the day I start getting called 'sir'. If things go to plan, I'll have at least one group of teenagers to call me sir whenever they wish to address me!
And I shall insist upon it!

Welcome to this class. For future reference, I will respond to Sir. Or, Lord and Master of Grades.
Any questions?

It made him feel old...not necessarily superior.

Old is good.

Old is good.

The wisdom and experience that comes with age is good. Being made to feel like you're old... not so much.

I remember the first time I got called Mr. (name) by someone's kid. It was just the kid being polite and respectful of his elder, but it kinda stung to be reminded that I am his elder and teenagers see me as an old person.

It's one of those mixed bags. A teenager showing respect is always nice. Thumbsup Feeling like you should be getting escorted across the street is not. Weeping

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

I have to laugh at myself, too. I know I'm not old by any real standards. I'm just in that transitional phase where I'm accepting the fact that while I'm not old, I certainly am not young anymore. I laugh because some of the crap that slips out of my mouth makes me feel like I should hike my pants up past my belly button and shake my cane at some kids.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.
