RE: Small Things That Make You Smile Thread
My son's girlfriend is out of town for a week and my son in on day three of 12-hour shifts. So yesterday and today I have been going to their house to tend to the dog and the new kitten.

Leah is a brindle Pit Bull and is the sweetest dog. She and the kitten play together - I can pick up the kitten with one hand. Leah will nearly knock me over in her enthusiasm when I visit but she is so gentle with that tiny little cat. It's cute to watch.

I'll be heading back over there in a few hours. Of course my dogs aren't happy to know I have been cheating on them with another dog. Smile

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

Got back home lesson than an hour ago. Noticed how smooth and hi-def my TV looks compared to the hotel one. Apparently my 4K television is fucking great.

Relief that my work week is almost over. Sunday night has been quiet, nothing is on fire, no major fuck-ups by earlier shifts in need of fixing, and someone even figured out how to finally get the AC at the front desk working.

I'm so glad I'm off work Friday. I don't even mind that most of the day will be spent on the road. Smile

Of course, when that day gets here, I'll probably be bitching about the drive, but for now it's all good. Cool

One of the conventions are talking to a few of us. They'd pay for our flights and hotel rooms. Seems they're big enough to start doing that.

I am not especially into make-up (more like meh, can take it or leave it), but those are seriously gorgeous works of beautifully transient art...

What do you play on it, outtathereligioncloset?

And wow, for some reason I thought the ukelele looked like a lyre. And I just discovered it was "developed in the 1880s, the ukulele is based on several small guitar-like instruments of Portuguese origin, the machete, the cavaquinho, the timple and the rajão, introduced to the Hawaiian Islands by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira and Cape Verde." Kinda cool, seeing as I love caboverdean music (and it's the reason I learnt Portuguese).

There is a guy who plays Handel and Vivaldi and other baroque composers on the ukelele. I really like his albums Yes

Talked to a man and woman who invited me to join a Charlotte-based atheist & agnostic group. Too far to travel for, but when we said our goodbyes, he said it was "always nice to meet good atheists" and "we need more good atheists like you."
