Took Duke to the vet.

They decided to do some blood work, and change his pain med. plus shots, plus a nail trim.

We're both not happy right now. The bill was quite high.

They said they'll call tonight or tomorrow with the results. Why is it that I'm anxious about this? The vet did say he's quite healthy despite arthritis and probably going blind and deaf...and doggie dementia.

Even for dogs it sucks getting old. Dodgy


But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I don't know if animals can realize that things have changed and they can't do what they used to do... ignorance can be bliss. Either way it is hard to watch them go through it.

Not at all. It's played for laughs but the sentiment expressed is very real. Every time I listen to it I think about the many cats and dogs I've had to watch go through getting old and not being able to get around easily and each and every one still hurts.
