This is why the whole "public forum" basis for the Internet needs to be changed.

The whole design and reason for the internet existing is openness and being a public forum.

If you want a private network, create one.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Well, you know Mark Twain's quote, "When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years." One can only hope that, when Elegant_Atheist is older, he will carry the same sentiment toward the other members here.

You guys are beginning to let me realize why all this spying and backstabbing is happening, because no one gives a shit anymore. You've all given up and are let them do whatever they want.

Or maybe we do useful things like contacting our elected representatives, contributing to appropriate human rights organizations, and voting for honest, rational people.

Ranting in internet forums, even one as important as this one Big Grin, is of marginal utility.

Of course they did. The Senate and House committee members have close ties with the security apparatus.

No, half of our representatives are extremely angry about not knowing all the NSA secret details. They are in meetings with Obama as we speak.

RE: Snowden Situation
Well Elegant it looks like Chas is right and you're wasting your time here. It seems no-one will/can answer your arguments beyond calling you young and naive. Apparently we're so apathetic or intimidated by the terrorists we are willing to let our gov't do anything. So sad
