So I am subbing for a dead guy
We had the unexpected death of one of our band members a few weeks ago. He was our first clarinet in concert band, second sax in the stage/swing band, and one of our assistant conductors. He was a really nice man.

With his death I have been asked to fill his spot in the stage band. I agree to do it though the holidays and see how it works after that. Having three kids I am already fairly busy. We will see how it goes. Big band music is kind of fun.

Wow - that kind of gig will get you a lot of experience and connections!

The holidays can be grueling enough without extras so, I hope everything works out well. Keep it light and enjoy what you can. Thumbsup

Well the first gig went good. We played for the local Dillard's during there sale last night. Tonight we play for a retirement home. Saturday is the concert band Christmas gig. On Jan 15 there is a stage band gig for the local chamber of commerce.
