You're a bundle of cells too lol!

It has DNA - no nervous system, no brain before the third trimester.

'Spirit'? WTF?

I don't believe you have thought very deeply about this. Drinking Beverage

Quit with the coffee dude. Sad

It is not a human until it has a central nervous system and a brain. It is merely a growth of tissue, much like a tumor before that. Once it can feel and perceive things, the picture changes drastically.

Don't have sex? What about rape?

Who are we to decide whether a baby dies?
Woman's rights? Gimme a break!

It's not a right if it conflicts with another's right. This time it's the baby's human right to live.

You necro'd the thread to crap out that?

I mean, you could have bumped a more recent discussion of abortion; Muffsy's from a couple weeks ago, perhaps...

A unique genome is not sufficient to constitute 'human'. Surely you must realize this? One might consider chimaeras and identical siblings. Not least of all one might mention that genomes can be non-physical.

Your mention of 'spirit' (which you then do not define - of course) leads me to mention the fact that a very large percentage of successful fertilizations (which we may crudely say constitute creating 'unique DNA') are not viable and fail spontaneously.

Consider how death is defined. It is when brain activity ceases. Do you accept this as valid? If so, it is only consistent to accept that, as life ends absent brain activity, life begins with the presence of brain activity. This is roughly halfway into pregnancy.

Ok that sounded a bit insensitive...

Sorry about that.

But it's truth!

Funny you should mention that.

Does being forced to carry a pregnancy constitute a violation of rights?

What if the pregnancy was not wanted? What if the pregnancy arose from non-consensual interaction?

None of your posts (in the intervening four minutes) come close to addressing any of the points raised.

Too bad. All life is sacred.

It isn't life. It cannot live. It cannot feel. It cannot perceive anything.

And yes. When your brain ceases to function you are pronounced dead. And so you are dead before your brain starts to function. Just logical.
