RE: So I moved to South Carolina
A good friend of mine, now living in San Francisco, was born and raised in South Carolina. Almost all of his family--small-town Southern Baptists--are still there, and he goes back often to visit. He and his male partner got married in California in 2008, with 100 people at the wedding. And a number of members of his family, including both parents, flew all the way across the country to attend the ceremony.

Point is, you can find decent people everywhere.

Religious disputes are like arguments in a madhouse over which inmate really is Napoleon.

I guess I really meant "Why are you surprised at the religiosity you see in SC? Didn't you look before you leapt?" Sad

Well it wasn't unexpected, just overwhelming. Like if someone had told me that the ocean was deep and I got there and discovered that "deep" meant hundreds of feet down.

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."
