I'm not teaching children. I'll be teaching my adult Sunday School class.

Also, I'm not teaching anything to do with election.
So you will only be teaching things that you believe?

Yes. But it coincides/doesn't oppose with Baptist doctrine.

They can. It's just sort of church protocol to have someone teach who has been called to teach. God usually reveals things to me about lessons that aren't superficial. I like to convey this back to the class.

I like where you are going with this, can I teach too?
This could be a lot of fun.

It's common in any Christian church to have someone teach who understands the material as the elders/deacons/bishops/pastors would teach it. It provides unity that other members of the church can teach as Jesus/God called for all men to go and teach/preach the "word of God." Think of it as seeing a new character on a long standing tv show or movie, yeah they are not the origianl or the protagonist, but they bring somethign else to the table.

Having other men teach classes especially to other adults accomplishes many things but these are the 4 biggest I find.

1. Fulfill commandments on the Church's older men tutoring younger men to become wise and have all men teach.

2. Change of scenery, no matter how awesome a speaker, evetually you become num to the message. Change of speaker is like putting in a lefty reliever for a righty starter.

3. Find common footing. "If Bob can understand and present this material, then I can too!"

4. Unity. Showing that others in the church fervently believe and want to "prove" and defend the faith.

In the end, it's just like any other community organization or group. Everyone takes a turn. They all feel appreciated. They all show support. Sounds an awful like the teenage need of acceptance. But good for you kingschosen. I attempted to enjoy teaching my classes in the church for awhile and I can see how people get a sense of fulfillment from it. Good luck.

And yet another interesting topic I am not interested in.

Wow, what a great forum this is.

A Christian can come onto an atheist forum and talk about how he is going back to teaching in the church, and not get flamed for it. Quite the opposite actually.

I'm pretty sure it's just that all the flame fuel has been exhausted on me. Wink
