LOL as they say at Minot, "-40 keeps out the Riff-Raff". You decide. Heh.

I wish I could move somewhere warm year round. I hate the cold. When I said freezing, that means about low 40s and under. That's cold to me. I almost miss the 110 degree weather.

The things that knock down power lines are high winds, icing, and motor vehicles.

The wind usually breaks branches which then break power lines; storms where there is sleet or freezing rain (ice storms) are the biggest culprit.

Local outages are sometimes caused by vehicles skidding and hitting poles, taking down the lines.

You should have a plan for what to do in case of power loss. Always have flashlight(s) and batteries and candles on hand. In advance of severe weather be sure to have a stock of water and foods that don't require cooking, fill the gas tank of your car, set your refrigerator and freezer to their lowest settings.

If you lose power in cold weather, open your frig/freezer as little as possible, set your cold water taps to drip slowly to help prevent the pipes from freezing.

Not freezing.
OK, so it's 56ºF here, -15ºF in Chicago - and that cold is heading this way. Blink

Crazy swings.
