Then it seems your are not "as liberal as they come". Others here are still more liberal. This isn't an attack on your position, I respectfully understand your position, but it is not the most liberal. I think of Chas as being rather liberal as well, but he obviously draws the line here as well. Others on the forum, myself included, are more liberal on matters of free speech. It is your opinion that he has made his point, but I think he honestly wanted to have a open discussion on the subject. He did not want to make a point and then leave. If his thread is closed without breaking rules and he makes another thread on the same topic then he is justified in doing so. This is NOT trolling, nor is it spamming. He broke no rules and I do not see why the thread should be closed by the admin. That is tantamount to limiting what one is allowed to say. As far as I know the only rules restricting speech on the forum is threats. This isn't the first time people have gotten riled up over something people has said, but no one has ever been banned barring threats to my knowledge and I see no reason why that policy should be changed.

Fair enough.

To Angie:

Never once in my posts have I pulled any ad homs on anyone, or insulted anybody instead of the content of their posts. I don't see where I am out of line. Hell, I didn't even call Bows an Arrows a bitch, I said what she said was a bitch move.

I went out of my way to make sure I wasn't personally attacking anyone, but some people couldn't do the same for others. Drinking Beverage

I don't seem myself as being mean, if I was angry, you would be able to tell by the use of caps and cussing.

The post was out of mere exasperation at a (what turned out to be misunderstood) part of her post that said we feel she isn't quality.

Hobbit is quality, as are many users, but that doesn't mean I agree with their viewpoints on this matter.

I have yet to call anybody here anything remotely insulting.

Perhaps the most angry I had gotten was with Bows and Arrows (Oh God, her PMs with me! Confused) but other than that, I have not really railed against anyone who didn't deserve it. Even Noah, who started cussing and being irriated first was not personally attacked.

The only one that was, was Dom, but it wasn't over anything that I would hold a grudge over. She just didn't know my backround, and assumed something that wasn't true, which flared something.

I'm pretty sure I have apologized to many people here, but that seems to have flown over your head.

I've become a bit ruffled when you said I was on a "Literal fucking High Horse" but that's because I view it exactly the opposite to many of you guys.

First, people called the guy a spammer, then we addressed this issue, I did go against him, and then you claim he was not decent, and could never be as long as he stays, when he was posting courtesly. Then shit happened in the private forum. Through out all of this, I have managed to retain my rationality and the only thing I am accused for is being "Out of line."

Was I the one that wished a person's death, no. Was I the one to say that the guy was a ticking time bomb? No. Did I falsely accuse someone of being a pedophile? No. Did I keep rudely posting and making fallacious character attacks? No. Was I trying to be calm and logical? I thought I was. Did I strictly address the arguments presented? Pretty much. Did I show sympathy for other people? Yes. Did I protect a user and defend him from being unjustly blamed? Yes. Did I try to reason calmly? Yes. Did I minimize my anger and not take it out on people who did not deserve it? In my opinion, yes.

There is a problem with forum posts that people don't realize, people can "project" emotions that the poster never had onto them.

While I was arguing with Noah, I was writing the post with a monotone, this is how I usually post when there are no caps.

Do I believe that you may have mistaken me for being angry some times, yes.

That's pretty much all I have to say about your post, calling me to get off my "High-horse" as you call it.

Ato...chill...I didn't mention Noah to you or Dom or any of the others.

Hobbit didn't quote anyone saying she wasn't quality, she said she felt that way. You demanded a quote that doesn't exist.

Quit vomiting every point that has ruffled your feathers over and over again. At what point did you and I reach a point where we were both on the same page, and it was acknowledged did you decide to puke everything up again. Damn...calm down and stop it already.

Hey now, at least I admitted to being irritated. As for cursing? I grew up in Vegas and am currently a father. I have a potty mouth that I have to keep in check all the time because of kids. So elsewhere, I let shit, fucks and bitches fly.

But yea, one of the heavily profanity laden posts was just me being drunk last night and one today out of the irritation I experienced after you told me to fact check (which I did, we just weren't on the same page about the facts). Both of which I fully disclosed btw.

Anyway, I too am calm in my postings. Though I like using caps for emphasis rather than bolding (lazy) to denote yelling. Perhaps sometimes the caps is a slightly raised voice lol.

Fair enough.

Everyone is very heated about this because it hits on 2 of our core values. Protection of children and freedom of speech. For most healthy normal people these are 2 of the most important things in the world. I can't really criticise those who place the former higher than the latter but for me and a few others freedom of speech is the most important thing.

Of all the things that religion does that hurts people not allowing discussion is the most harmful because at that point they can spin their lies unopposed. Authoritarian Governments are much the same way, restrict even the right to think unapproved thoughts and you can control people for whatever means you wish. It begins with small things "Don't Offend people" "Don't question things that you need not worry about" until the wall of things not allowed grows to include anything not pre-approved. I realize not every slippery slope actually leads to the worst case scenario but how can I criticise others for censoring dissenting views if I do the same. It is not popular speech that need protection, it is the unpopular speech, the dissenting voice, the outsider, for when those voices are silenced then does true tyranny begin.

I just simply believe that there are ways to protect our children without the need to sacrifice freedom of speech.

I am in agreement with you, I was just trying to explain it to some other people that seem to think anyone on the other side of this disagreement has no consideration for anyone else.
