Ima write this down on the calendar as a camping trip somewhere in that path. We saw the last partial eclipse here in southern California, and it was really neat to see the arc-shaped shadows on everything. I haven't seen a total eclipse in decades.

I can recommend being on an elevated location. During the 1999 central european eclipse i was on a hill, several hundreds of meters high with good all around view, and you could see the darkness/shadow approach like the blast wave of a nuclear explosion. It was very impressive.

The path of totality goes right over Teton National Park. That sounds like a good place to be for it.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

I'm right under the point of maximum solar occlusion. Gotta get a welders mask and a number fourteen filter. Tongue

Do you may still have some old floppy disks around? 2 or 3 layers of the disc-material is enough. Oh, and you wont be looking like a silly welder out there Tongue

That being said I may try to stake out a spot here.

Maybe 300 meters north of the center line with a great view to the west and about 2:38 of totality.

What state is that in, Pappy? It doesn't say in the photo.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Maybe I can make that. I'll have to see what we have planned. I've never been to Wyoming.

It's in Tennessee on US 165 otherwise known as the Cherohala Skyway. The Skyway is a beautiful 40ish mile long scenic drive through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forrests across the Smoky Mountains between Tellico Plains, TN and Robinsville, NC.
