Some good Muslim or Christian websites?
Hello, if anyone could help me find some good english websites for muslims, or christians I would much appreciate it. I would like to know more about them because I feel I never really got a good chance to observe what they feel during my transition to atheism. What was so clear to me was obviously not so clear to them, and I made a mistake in assuming that everyone thought the same things back then. But by the time I found out that everyone did not think the same way it was to late and I was already an atheist. It was my first lesson in not everyone is on the same level.

But anyways, it would be greatly appreciated if people could help me. For science.

Well, the best way to know a religion is to read their "Holy books". In your case would be Koran & Bible.
Also, I think "transition to atheism" makes no different to the situation you mentioned, since you can always "transform" back to theism if you feel atheism isnt your type.

I don't want to know a religion, I want to understand the people who follow it. And I've been an atheist for 5 years. Besides I already know how religion works.

You don't need to know their religion to know the people Jedah. They're two completely different things if you believe it or not. Wink

Ah, Aperture science. Even the dumbest of science accomplishes much more than the dumbest of religion ever could.

As for the topic I would recommend talking too close friends. I debate with my friends constantly and although I always win I can understand more about them. I would just warn to be wary of those Christians who blatantly disregard facts like the world being 4.5 billion years old or believe that Noah's ark was actually true. I've encountered many in my life and even though some comments they make should give you a laugh or two its a bit saddening to watch them turn their brains off whenever you try to explain anything and use some completely irrelevant argument to make themselves feel better. Who cares if Hitler was an atheist or not? The vast overwhelming people under him were definitely religious.

The way to see by Faith is to shut the eye of Reason.” -Benjamin Franklin

It has been a long time. How have you been?

I try not to speak about religion with family or friends, I've always felt that people feel threatened by such things when you approach them directly. The world of media is a lot more effective at providing a relaxing environment where one can speak their thoughts freely without fear of reprimand. But then the trolls come in and the ragers and pretty soon it's just one big mess but still. People still manage to feel more secure talking about it here, than they would in real life. btw NASA should take the aperature science logo as it's own. Or make it Carl Sagan's symbol or both >.>
