Thank you so much for the image--beautiful!

I was in a plant nursery a few days ago, and I saw these gorgeous animals I could not name. They were flying around and fluttering very fast; they looked like hummingbirds and flew like hummingbirds. I excitedly pointed them out to all the people in the nursery. Next thing you know everyone is putting in what they thought they were and many began chasing them around with cameras. Most thought they were hummingbirds.

I said I thought they were some kind of moth, but that seemed wrong because it was bright daylight out, and none of us were acquainted with moth activity during the day.

When I got home, I Googled "hummingbird moth," and sure enough there they were--dozens of images.

The coolest part of all this was seeing people excited to experience something none of us were acquainted with.

My best guess is that they arrived in chrysalis stage on some particular plant in the nursery and emerged just in time for us.

See now this is the kind of bug I like.
