It probably is more accepted than in the US, depending on where in the US you look, but I don't have any data for that.

SSM was legalised in the ACT for a time, but was overturned by the High Court.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

Politicians who create the laws are members of the public.
Much of the work of the High Court Laws involves the definitions/meaning of words in a social context.

There is as much judicial activism in Australia as anywhere else as far as I can tell.

And, because they are hearing adversarial cases with competing arguments, you will find the word "opinion" showing up frequently
in the judgements of courts such as SCOTUS and Australia’s High Court.
