I go for the sim aspect over the graphics. These days there doesn't seem to be anything that comes close for accuracy or challenge.

I get that, but it's not for me. I can't get myself into that head space, because the visuals keep taking me out of it. I went to school for Game Art & Design, and much like how a film major can no longer just enjoy a movie without dissecting it, I just can't ignore bad game visuals. I can turn my brain off and enjoy bad movies (Fast & Furious series), but I just can't do the same for ugly games.

And it's not that it's just old, but the entire art direction is misdirected and off balance. There is way too much focus on the tank, at the expense of everything else. You can tell that the tank was modeled with exacting and precise detail, which makes the bland and lackluster environments all the more apparent. If they'd spent more time implementing decent lighting, better foliage, more varied and better textured terrain; it wouldn't stand out nearly as bad.

This is why Steel Beasts Pro PE (2006) look inferior to something like Battlefield 2 (2005).

RE: Steel Beasts
Yes Steel Beasts is compatible to run with window 7. It is a 32 bit application, but it is also compatible with 64 bit versions of this OS. It is PC based simulation of small unit armored and mechanized combat. It models the commanders as well as the gunners positions of various fighting vehicles in 3D environment. This is a multiplayer support game and can be easily installed.
