There's definitely a hype : in the city in which I live, there are 4 stores that sell food supplements in the city center, and that's not even a big city center ! But I agree there are food supplements that are useful. I take B vitamines, and occasionally some sulfur amino acide that are useful for vegetarian (I'm not sure that I have enough of them in my food, maybe I have, and then I'm just following the hype without knowing it !).
