No, I did time in Oklahoma. Three churches at every intersection. A government human resources facility on the other. I've never been to a more religious, cracked-out, meth-fried, welfare-leeching shit hole. It's most economically significant days were religious holidays and, the 1st, fifth, and 10th of every month, when food stamps are doled out. Which most seem to find a necessary requirement for continued existence due to their blowing the majority of their minimum wage pay checks on processed drugs and at the casinos. Or, horrifyingly, 3.2% beer.

I'm now in Texas, but necessarily stranded in Dallas on my way to Austin. And if you're sorry to hear that I'm doing time in Texas, you must be woefully under-informed. Well, no, I take that back. Austin is paradise. The rest of it, is, well.. Bat country.

But, gratitude for the sentiment in any case.

I was born in Dallas, TX and was raised in Tyler, TX. Like I said, sorry to hear you did time in Texas. And Oklahoma. Wink

RE: Stumbled in.
Gotcha. Having been born in Baylor Hospital, and thus being a Dallas native, and where I have expended 30 years of my life, I guess we're in accord, despite differing perspectives on our birthplace.

Dallas is shit. Shit enough for media to create, not once, but twice, a television show based here. Proof positive, no? It has its redeeming qualities, or at least, in some cases, used to. Deep Ellum is back on the rise, after the fallout of a certain mayoral term. The "Bar of Soap" is gone, much to my dismay. :/

I was hatched at Presbyterian but I reckon it could have been worse... my folks didn't live too far from Parkland, lol. And I spent a good deal of time in Dallas throughout my younger days. Enough to figure out that I don't like Dallas. Austin is without a doubt, the most sane city in Texas from what I've experienced. I like it pretty good, save all the sociopaths running around in suits. A lot of good strip clubs there, thanks to those sociopaths in suits. Smile
