Children have to be taught etiquette. They cannot be expected to just know not to exploit the giving tree. Guess who's job it is to teach the children how to behave? The reason you were a spoiled brat was because your parents enabled it.

The child has no say in how it is taught, or what it is taught. Children are subject to their parents ideologies until later in their life, when they are more capable in thinking for themselves. By then, however, it may be too late for them to think independently.

I believe that children are preconditioned to behave a certain way due to their parent's responsibility or irresponsibility. If the parent does not enforce guidelines or rules to enforce behavior, then what teenagers do is not the teenager's fault. As I said above, though, by the time children are able to think for independently, they might have obtained said ability too late.

The rest of the teen section, Imma gonna refrain from posting (still gonna scope it as it provides valuable insight) unless there's some area where my personal experience is significant.

Additionally, it is difficult to gauge just how one should punish a teenager for their actions. Teens are adults when it suits adults, and children when it suits adults.
