Hmmm, not sure if that's been properly patched yet Consider

"Console fanboy worship: The deluded belief that your console is superior, simply because you happen to own it..." - Albert Einstein, speaking at E3.

I'm not at all interested in voice commands, or facial recognition, or home entertainment shit... Not putting it down, but I have no use for that.

Call me old fashioned but it still pisses me off that I have to put batteries in the fucking controller.

But... There's only two reasons why I'd pick the Xbox One over the PS4... One being that I'm so used to the Xbox system and layout, and the second being the controller. The Xbox controller is many times better than the PS4 in terms of ergonomics, but its not as durable (I've broken two 360 controllers, but never broken a PS2 controller, and not through lack of trying).

The cost is the main thing... A few months ago, the Xbox was 100 pounds more than the PS4... That's nearly 200 dollars!

But, I've just compared the prices on Amazon, and the Xbox has come down a lot. There's now just 30 quid between them. So I might get that instead.

It's not fanboy worship, it's just more for your money. I love Sony products, but the Xbox is just better. The 360 vs PS3 really came down to a matter of opinion, but the One vs PS4 is no contest. I mean, I can control my tv and cable through my Xbox, plus with multitasking I no longer have to choose between watching my favorite tv show and playing games with my friends; I do both! Need a guide for your game? Browse the internet and pull it up on your Xbox so have side by side comparison. It also has built in game recording and rendering software at no extra charge. Now tell me, what does the PS4 have? Tongue

Plus, I technically own both. I mean, I personally bought the One, but another family member bought the PS4. At the moment, we both play the 360 though, because the PS3 broke and there's no good games out for next-gen...yet Tongue

Also, back onto the topic of games, I just made a list of games that I'm looking into/preordered for next-gen consoles. Check it out, you might like some of them Big Grin

Italicized = interesting, Bold = Favorite, Underlined = Preordered

Watch Dogs - 5/27/14
Elder Scrolls Online - 6/30/14
Sniper Elite 3 - 7/01/14
Destiny - 9/09/14
The Crew - 9/30/14

10/07/14:
Shadow of Modor
Alien: Isolation
Dragon Age: Inquisition

12-31-14:
Dying Light
Evolve
AC Unity

TBA:
Minecraft
The Witcher 3 - 02/15
The Division
Kingdom Come: Deliverance

All that is great... But, all I want is something to play games on. That's literally it.

Exclusives might sway my opinion, but that depends on what they are... And how desperately I want to play them.

I'm not ruling the One out, but I know I would only use one of its many features... So the extra money isn't giving me anything more really.

But since the price drop, I might get either... Depends on the exclusive titles.

Just had a look at the exclusives for each... And neither console has anything that particularly grabs my attention.

So I'm still on the fence..

If the prices gap doesn't increase, I might get the One, for the better controller and because I'm used to using Xbox Live.

Either way, I've got to save some dough up before I buy anything.

Yeah, that's the Arabic faction... The Christian faction has its own bugs, but they're quite funny really.

I'm currently working through the questline to become a millionaire Rock star... But I've hit a game breaking glitch... The band I've aligned myself with keeps playing shitty '80s pop songs on keyboard. I think the quest is broken.

Games that wouldn't work? Did you download a lot of stuff? 'Cause stuff like ISO files has pretty always a 50/50 chance of working, nevermind what shit a keygen can bring into your machine. If you buy it off Steam it will probably work just fine. The only game I had problems working properly is Fallout 3, but in the after one google search I found out that all I had to was to replace two lines in the config. file and I was good to go.

(06-05-2014 08:39 AM)Sam Wrote:  So I drifted onto consoles because the games are made for the platform, so no need to keep upgrading, and if it doesn't work then its probably a faulty disk.

And I also found that keeping a PC up to date in order to play the latest stuff to be very expensive.

This isn't entirely true. It isn't a MUST to keep up with the latest tech on PC in order to play the games properly. Hell, I can't even play Crysis 3 on Very High. What I can do however is play it on High or Medium settings, and it would still look good running at 60 FPS. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 sits in the same boat. My GPU is a lot more powerful than what's inside those "old" machines, so the PS3 and 360 limited the frames to something like 30 FPS and was still capable of being in atleast Medium settings. Consoles are still computers, now more similar than ever. Just look at Steam OS. Nvidia and AMD ship their GPU's with programs like Geforce Experience to automatically correct the best settings for the games you play, just like any console. If the games are on your GPU's list, they are also "made" for that hardware. You really don't pay much more either. This depends on what you want and how much you care about preformance. But you know just as well as me, that if you're patient and wait for bundle price cuts on Steam or heck, even fucking Origin and Uplay, you'll get more games for less, evening out the price. With their 50-60 $ pricetag, about 5-6 console ported games will cost about much as you already paid for the console. And you know how Sony and Microsoft just loooooove Gamestop's used games? They're gonna come back and try to finish that off. You should take a look at this, this guy knows what you might want:

The games I like to play on PC tend to be simulators, or strategy games... Like FS2004, and Silent Hunter 3. With those I need to be sober and up close to the screen. Big Grin

This is the way my friend plays PC; he's got it hooked up on a massive flatscreen and sits in his bed while playing. He prefers to use the keyboard still, but as I said, you can just plug in your Xbox controller and it will be the same thing.

That's a good motivation, keep it. That build up there that was on that video has probably enough power to run Skyrim on Ultra settings (it really doesn't take much to do that).

Yeah, but the gameplay is terrible. Grinding out level seems like an interminable job and you only get stronger up to a certain level, then you start weakening. Despite all this grinding, most players have very little to show for it, and no one finishes the game alive.

Tongue

Not to mention the total lack of saves. Dodgy

Gotta give them credit for world design, story options and the physics engine though. I don't know about the graphics however, I have to use an in-game item to have any...

I'm going to chime in on the xbone v ps4 thing. ... I have had ps3 and xb360. I agree about the controller. Overall, launch titles don't mean shit. The last gen had a 10 year lifespan. ... if you wanted an all round entertainment system, yeah xbone, I don't use a console for that personally, so I have gone for ps4 first this time. (Xbox last time) purely because side by side for running games, it's a cheaper more powerful machine.

I get mine soon, for free, got it from a mobile phone website for taking out a new contract! Big Grin

RE: Suggest some games to try.
Before I forget...

Does anyone know if I can hook up an external HD to my 360?

I know Microsoft make a purpose built one, but its only compatible with the newer consoles... Mine's the old, white and grey 360.

I've got a 60GB drive in the top of it, but its nearly full... There's about 4 gig left.

Ideally I'd like to buy an off the shelf HD, with enough space to install the games I play most often.

But would it be compatible?
