Suggested book reading order....
Hi, all.

I'm newly out, and when I come out, I come out all the way. After bingeing on numerous podcasts, etc I jotted down books that were repeatedly referenced and then bought them. But a question...can anyone suggest the order to read these in, or does it really not make a difference? This is all new to me (the intellectual side of the house, that is), so if anyone thinks it would be best to read some before others and can let me know, I'd appreciate it. The books I have are:

DeConverted-Andrews
Farewell To God-Templeton
Godless-Barker
Why There Is No God-Navabi
Manual For Creating Atheists-Boghossian
God Delusion-Dawkins

Thanks for any assistance!

My suggestion would be to start with a couple that you will potentially relate to (assuming you are de-converted and not a life-long atheist):
DeConverted-Andrews
Godless-Barker

Then dive into the meatier stuff:
God Delusion-Dawkins
God is not Great - Hitchens (added to the list)

And leave this for last as it is a different (albeit related) topic:
Manual For Creating Atheists-Boghossian

I haven't read either of these so I don't know where I'd put them...
Farewell To God-Templeton
Why There Is No God-Navabi

If you are a life-long atheist just starting to be open about it then I'd read Dawkins and Hitchens first, then Andrews, Barker, and Boghossian.

In the end, the order isn't that important.

Started to de-convert 11 of 2014, started to go public last couple of weeks...I've been everything from Catholic to Christian Fundy Happy Clappy Ass of God Baptist...you name it!

Feels so good right now! Thanks for the advice!

I would add History of God by Karen Armstrong.

"If we are honest—and scientists have to be—we must admit that religion is a jumble of false assertions, with no basis in reality.
The very idea of God is a product of the human imagination."

Thanks, everyone! Further FYI...with the "coming out all the way!" theme that I expressed in my first paragraph on this thread, I found a cheap flight from Denver and a hotel for June 3 and 4 in DC and decided to take the plunge--my first Reason Rally!
