RE: Sunt
To me, sunt is the third person plural present tense of esse. As in "Sacerdotes inprudentes sunt"

-summum ius, summa iniuria.-M. T. Cicero
-I will show you fear in a handful of dust.-T.S. Eliot
-
ἡ φύσις οὐδὲν ποιεῖ ἅλματα

RE: Sunt
Actually we already have "the past tense of a past tense". It's called Past Perfect and the English geek apparently forgot about that:

'We had built this house before we painted it.'

My guess is that they are treating 'sunt' as a Past Participle or Past Tense Simple and Past Participle

Present Past Simple Past Participle
Drink Drank Drunk
Send Sent "Sunt"

or

Send "Sunt" "Sunt"

Who's the geek now?

You can either see it as 'language evolution' or you can hate and loathe it. In the second case, the best course of action is to pretend you never heard it and pray that it dies before people start finding it catchy. The more attention it gets the more likely it is to become catchy. Now you started a thread about it, so I am going to blame you when everybody will start using it and grammar books will list it as an alternative. Go to your room and think about what you did Big Grin

Oh, no Hallucinations 4:11 says the 'gilded sheep should be stewed in rat blood' but Morons 5:16 contradicts it. (Chas)

I would never shake a baby unless the recipe requires it.

RE: Sunt
Heard it again today. This girl said it twice.

"They sunt it to me last week."
"I sunt it back."

RE: Sunt
Oh my. I had forgotten about this terrible word until my ears where mangled today by a woman who "Sunt her kid to the Chevron".

I really, really can't stand when people say this. I burn with annoyed rage.

Hot water heater is another one...you don't need to heat hot water.

"time clock" (where you punch in and out at work) -- I know it's different from a regular clock, but "time clock" doesn't exactly nail the difference. All clocks are time clocks.

Weird necro, "sunt" "unthaw" and now, "timeclock".
