RE: Harvest Moon
No worries here. The moon was very bright for last couple of nights. When I turned out the lights before heading off to bed, the whole kitchen was bathed in moonlight. On a moonless night I can see a good few stars. I sometimes show disinterested kids how to find the North Star using the constellation of Ursa Major (the plough) as a pointer. I get the impression that they would rather "google" it.

I can't remember the last time I saw any moon, let alone a harvest one.
...

I take it back.

The Supermoon is visible tonight if a bit blur.

RE: Super Moon
It wasn't all that impressive.....

I've seen better ---- when there's a good blanket of snow on the ground.....

I've seen it bright enough then, you could easily read a book by moonlight...

RE: Super Moon
I probably missed the right moment to see it when it was the biggest and most impressive because of rain and clouds. When the sky was finally clear again, sure it was a big moon and it was really bright outside, but not as impressive as I expected, and certainly not as impressive as on some pictures I have seen !

RE: Super Moon
I got a good look early this morning with it low on the horizon which contributed to the apparent size. No clouds and very clear viewing so pretty impressive.

Heading out this evening to catch it come up behind our local lighthouse some 4 miles offshore. Hopefully the horizon will be clear.

Is it a bird, is it a plane… no, it’s supermoon, saving the earth (besides making seasons all stable and stuff)

Seemed bigger last month here, visibly brighter this month. When the clouds let it show its face, that is Dodgy

I think its going to be cloudy and rainy. Some of the crazy fundi think the world is ending. It's the anniversary of Israel's 1948 birth or some such thing

Supposing that's true, it happens every year, doesn't it? This would be the 68th such anniversary. Why would they think this one is any more special than the first 67?
