RE: Surveillance
This is a situation where I can only say I wish I had his courage if I was in that same situation.

Currently Bradley Manning is on trial for doing something similar, not putting combat personnel at risk, only pointing out how the US government abuses its power. I might add how combat personnel in enforcing that power do abuse their "opponents".

I am an enemy of the state both the specific (US) and the general. I do not hide this from my clan, I do feel obligated to hide this from the state. I find the continued intrusion of the state into personal communication difficult and troubling. Those who voluntarily out the states intrusion into our lives deserve commendation.

Trial or risk of death tell one what one needs to know about the quality of the state.

If there is such a thing as a hero, Snowden qualifies.

As for what he's exposing, none of it is the least bit surprising to me.

I am re-reading 1984. Orwell would have a field day with this and all the other measures to "keep us safe".

It scares me me how people accept this day by day encroachment into their privacy.

Impeach Obama already, jeez. He's violated the 4th amendment on a massive scale.

Although, considering his predecessor violated the 5th, 6th, and 7th amendments without consequence, I doubt it's going to happen.

E 2 = (mc 2)2 + (pc )2
614C → 714N + e + ̅νe
2 K(s) + 2 H2O(l) → 2 KOH(aq) + H2 (g) + 196 kJ/mol
It works, bitches.

And the 4th. Whose act is The Patriot Act? Who's its daddy? Consider

Many of us have been complaining about that fucking Patriot Act since day one. It has domestic surveillance provisions that clearly violate the Constitution.
