RE: Tea
Green tea, FTW. Black tea is simply too bitter.

My favs are:
- White butterfly (white)
- Gyokuro Yamashiro (green)
- Milk oolong (oolong)
- Golden monkey (black)

These are all straight tea, unflavored.
As far as flavored goes:
- Earl Grey (black over green)
- Pumpkin chai (black)

The earl grey green usually has too much bergamot so I mix it with straight green. I only sweeten and milk black teas. Sometimes a strong oolong will get some agave nectar.

I don't drink the flavored ones. I want the tea.
Same here. Although, I don't mind Chai.

You ain't making it right. I don't give a shit what Htichens says, no tea should be brewed with boiling water, not even black. The temperature and steeping time is key to avoiding bitter tea.

White - 1-2 minutes @ 150F
Green - 1-3 minutes @ 170F
Black - 3-5 minutes @ 200F
Oolong - 1-3 minutes @ 170F

Some, like the Gyokuro Cosmo likes, are steeped at even lower temperatures like 130-140F.

Been using the shit outta this every day since Christmas. I can make a lot of tea without waiting for the temperature to be in the proper range.

Manly also got me some matcha which apparently is the basis for the entirely unnecessarily complicated Japanese tea ceremony. I just been bringing the temp to 175F, stir the shit in and eat my tea soup. It's delicious but I keep worrying I'm gonna get a late night Come-to-Shinto visit from the Yakuza for societal blasphemy or somesuch. Big Grin

Lol. My brother bought about 20lbs of matcha from some site. He mixes it with his tea, yogurt, or shakes. Rarely see him actually whisk some up properly.
