At least they made your point for you, though it was probably lost on them.

There you go. Remind them of the point in the event they missed it the first go round.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;

RE: Tell me about a time when a Christian made you feel judged or berated.
I have been offended by what some religious people have said but I don't know about the judging part. None of them have outright said that they ever thought any less of me because I was an atheist or thought I was a bad person because I was an atheist.

I did lose a job once over a series of circumstances that all seem to originate around the time my boss learned of my atheism (because I brought "The God Delusion into Work"). Several other co-workers began to treat me differently and my boss began to make things more difficult on me to the point that I said "fuck it" and quit (another young lady who had been with the company much longer than myself quit the month prior to that for essentially the same reasons and was also coincidentally a non-believer).

I am a bit leery to say that it was because I was an atheist though or that they really judged me and thought less of me and that led to the change in attitude. I think part of it was (for my boss) him trying to pass the blame off to his employees because other people were being blamed for the store's shortcomings too. He had just recently gotten a new boss and his old boss was a buddy, the new guy was a prick, and everything the new guy cared about included criteria our store was not that good at (retail business related to auto parts). I wasn't having any of it and made his life hell right back and his retaliation was to do things like play preachers on Sunday morning radio (I just cut it off).

The other employees were all stressed too (because of my boss) but I think the change it attitude was mainly due to preconceived notions about what atheism means in the Southern US (my own mom asked if I worshiped the devil). They were afraid of what it meant and either felt some pressure to convert me but became frustrated when they couldn't and even more so when my arguments began to make more sense than theirs' and it came down to "faith." Mainly I think they imagined some change in me that didn't actually occur so that they could justify the damnation they believed I would be receiving, perhaps as a way of trying to make themselves not like me so that they could justify the punishment.

RE: Tell me about a time when a Christian made you feel judged or berated.
Last time was today, when I saw a passive aggressive Facebook post from a long-time friend of mine that said, "It must be so lonely when you have only yourself to believe in and rely on." She's been making passive aggressive posts about God and his "love" and "forgiveness" and whatever since I came out as an atheist, but never before that. Since everyone else she knows is a hardcore Christian, I'm almost certain those posts are meant for me...

Another time was when some fellow worshippers ganged up on me over some nude anatomy studies I had sketched for practice. They ragged on me about drawing "filthy naked porn" and said I "wasn't a real Witness". And, as I found out, they had then gone around talking to other believers behind my back, spreading around that I was "an apostate" and should be avoided. That really hurt...

the only time i was ever 'judged' was very minor to the point that I'm not even sure if it should be called that.
my religion teacher asked the class who didn't go to church and when people put up their hands were for the most part troublemakers were told that not going to church 'reflected in our actions'
it backfired as that could imply that if we go to church we'll be an ass like her and it backfired as I'm a nice person to people [as long as your not an ass]
beyond that one event there was no one ever judged me since most people are pretty good

Maybe you should start posting some positive secular notions....

I feel incredible! It's easy to strive to be good when I know I am the only one responsible for my own thoughts and actions.

Self reliance is it's own reward... AND it has the extra added perk of freedom - how great is that!?!

Come to the dark side; we have cookies. I'm sure you can think of some other cool, positive things. Dodgy

RE: Tell me about a time when a Christian made you feel judged or berated.
I posted links to my atheist blog on Facebook. This got my un-friended and blocked by my Christian brother and his wife, and many times other Christian relatives and friends have threatened to un-friend me for these same posts.... despite the fact that 1) they don't have to click the links and 2) I don't threaten to un-friend them for their Christian posts.

I've also been judged on my actions toward the poor in bizarrely un-Christian ways. For instance, I pick up hitchhikers all the time, and my family keeps warning me that it's a bad idea. Was the good Samaritan picking up the bloody and beaten man a bad idea? And I've let homeless people spend the night in my home while I've been at work. Like the hitchhikers, I've never had a bad experience with them (they've never stolen from me or broken anything) and yet Christians tell me that it's a horrible idea. But I've been homeless before, so I'm a little more empathetic. Nevertheless, this seems like an absurd thing to be judgmental about.

My girlfriend is mad at me. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried cooking a stick in her non-stick pan.

I have been. Big Grin
I like to post about things such as how much more I've been able to appreciate the spectacular beauty of our planet since letting go of religion. And how uplifting it is not to have to be afraid of an "end of the world".

Motherfucker - no. You can pray for inspiration; but us atheists get paid. Kick down, then we'll talk. Big Grin
