Yeah, I've always hated those kind of comments.

Personally, I'm on long term corticosteroids which caused diabetes (was always superhealthy before that, so I want to punch people in the face for thinking I'm just a lazy slob and that's why I have it, or that anyone else with it is automatically a lazy slob). On metformin since last month and checking glucose levels several times a day. It's not much fun, and I don't even have to inject insulin (they did inject me when I was in the hospital before the metformin though). Endocrinologist says as soon as I'm weaned off the prednisone, I will lose all weight I gained and get rid of the diabetes though.

A lot of people think bad things and problems and obstacles are there to "strengthen your faith," but that sounds a lot like bullshit to me, and offensive bullshit at that.
