Thank god? No! Thank me!!
Last night I was roused from my bed at 1 am by the police knocking on my door. They needed my K9 and our services to find a missing female Alzheimer's patient.

With temperatures hovering around -2, I suited up and 20 mins later we were out the door. 45 mins later, we located the woman in a shed 4 houses down from her house. She had gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night and gotten confused.

She was unconscious and suffering from hypothermia. I took off my jacket and laid down on top of her until the ambulance arrived. I instructed my k9 to lay down across her legs to cover the parts that I couldn't.

Later, while I debriefing the police inside the woman's house, when her daughter (daughter in law?), introduced herself to me and repeatedly thanked god for helping to find her mother. Never once did she turn to me and thank me specifically or thank my k9. (When people do thank me, I tell them to thank my partner - it wasn't me who found the missing, it was him).

She then instructed me that the dog must stay outside and wasn't allowed in te house. Unreal! It's -2 outside, my k9 just saved your mother's life and you want him to stay outside in the cold.

I turned to the officer and told him that we would have to finish debriefing in the morning because my partner stays with me.

Most people can't wait to meet my partner and often will hug the dog fiercely.

Just venting frustration....ugh!

Honestly, I was more upset that she shunned my partner from her house.

Great job on the fast rescue!

There are some people that think everything positive comes from their god. Oddly, they don't blame that same god when things go badly. The brainwashing is obviously strong in that one.

I think your partner did her no favour.

I suspect that her mother is heavily insured.

Consider

Not only do I applaud you for the rescue, but for keeping your cool.
I would've been pissed, and the daughter (-in law) would've known exactly why.

So great job Thumbsup

When something like this happens I say "you're welcome" to the ungrateful assholes, the looks on their faces are usually a sight to be seen Tongue
