Thank you Issac Asimov
“I prefer rationalism to atheism. The question of God and other objects-of-faith are outside reason and play no part in rationalism, thus you don't have to waste your time in either attacking or defending.”
― Isaac Asimov
Even though I'm Spiritual and believe in God I have to admit I like Isaac Asimov and Bertrand Russell. I don't waste my time with the ardent Atheist who insists that he/she knows with 100 % certainty that God does not exist. They don't know the cause of the 'Big Bang' and they don't know why there is something instead of nothing. But they do know that whatever the answer is to these unanswerable questions, the answer could not possibly involve a Supreme Consciousness or Supreme Being. This is something they KNOW. Thank you Issac Asimov for revealing Atheism as a Religion.

Shall I bother to ask??? Shall I??? Do I have the energy....

This is why Issac Asimov prefered Rationalism to Atheism. Like all
deeply religous people, Atheists have an unshakeable belief in
something that can be neither proved or disproved. But please,
don't get me wrong, I respect your Faith.

RE: Thank you Issac Asimov
Here is how I see things.

Religion has a belief, however it has certain clauses that limit a persons freedom of choice (which includes rationalism)

Atheism is a lack of belief, this does not contain any clauses but free's the person to make their own decisions. This is no "dogma" with atheism, just sterotypes.

Also Issac Asimov was an atheist. I shall now google the statement you have provided of his and see what else he was talking about when he said it. To possibly give some scope on the man instead of picking one sentence of his and coming to a decision about him.

EDIT:

Asimov preferred to be labeled as a rationalist rather than an atheist as the latter may imply ignorance. These statements are relevant in this context.

Emotionally I am an atheist. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time.

I prefer rationalism to atheism. The question of God and other objects-of-faith are outside reason and play no part in rationalism, thus you don't have to waste your time in either attacking or defending.

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.

You didn't answer the question.

Religions:

- Believe in a deity/deities and/or magic.
- Feature prayers, rituals and festivals.
- Make extraordinary claims, yet provide no evidence.
- Control people's lives.
- Gather in large, often ornate buildings constructed exclusively for the purpose of worship.

Atheists:

- Don't believe in God/Gods.

Rationalists:

- Don't believe in God, magic, spirits, ghosts, conspiracies or UFOs.

Asimov was the man. You guys know that he was head of the AHA?

This is cool:

No they do not.. in generic stance Atheism is just a negative believe, not the strong claim against Gods possibility.

There seems to be an issue this way like that of those from Huxley's agnostic thought that atheism is just strong/gnostic atheism without credence to where a lot of people people stand on the topic.

Buddhist Alternative,

I haven't noticed you until now.
I see you joined last month and already have -8 rating.
That's impressive but I'll make up my own mind.

I notice that you are mixing up 'knowledge' ("This is something they KNOW") and 'belief' ("I'm Spiritual and believe in God").

Was that a genuine mistake? If you are here for enlightenment, we can assist.

Smile
