RE: Thawing the turkey
Rule of thumb; If the thigh has retained it's moisture the breast will always be soft. Thumbsup

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Put it in a brine if you're worried. The salt should take care of anything nasty. Brined turkey is better anyway.

Gobble, gobble...

When I was little we had a neighbor who secretly liked us, but was stern and always calling my mother about things we were up to, she didn't like. Her name was Mildred. We called her Mildew. Every Thanksgiving we used to dial her phone, "gobble" her, and hang up. We thought we so smart. One year we must have either forgot or were out of town, and she called my mother : "Are the boys ok ? I was worried about them. I didn't get my "gobble". Facepalm Weeping

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.

How Long Can You Keep a Thawed Turkey in the Fridge?
Question: I’m defrosting a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Once it is completely thawed, how long can I safely keep the thawed turkey in the fridge before cooking it?

Answer: It depends on how you’re thawing it. If you’re defrosting the turkey in the fridge, you can safely keep it refrigerated for an additional one or two days after it’s fully thawed, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

Uh-oh. It thawed about 5 or 6 days ago. The Titanic

Found basically the same info on a few sites - I would suggest buying one tonight and doing the cold water thaw.

Put it in cold water for 30 minutes, change the water, repeat till thawed.

Food poisoning is not something to be thankful for.

Or just buy a fresh one.

RE: Thawing the turkey
Hope your day turns out well Dance42.

My turkey is still a little frozen, guess I should have rolled it over yesterday. Oh, well...

Off to start the marathon of cooking! Happy turkey day everyone. Big Grin
