RE: The Atheist Bible Study: What do we all think of Psalm 14
I guess I'll take personal exception with the assertion that atheists are morally defunct and 'do no good'. We're about 77 days into the year, and at this point I have just under 50 hours of community service/volunteer time (we have a logging tool at work, and they provide listings of volunteer opportunities). This includes spending my MLK day-off helping Habitat for Humanity build sheds. I also spend my Saturday mornings prepping, packing, and delivering pet food for low income/unemployed/sr citizens/disabled who would otherwise be unable to feed their pets and may be forced to give them up.

The belief or assumption that someone needs religion to do good for others is the perfect example of why it is FREE THINKING, not a damned 'god' that makes man do right or wrong. It's also a pretty good tie to why religion was created in the first place.

I interpret it as a method for Christianity to hedge their bets by saying that those who don't believe the same things as them are morally inept. Every religion has some wording that looks down upon others.

Though, I don't think this is specifically towards atheists, I think this is anyone who doesn't believe in Yahweh.

Of all the ideas put forth by science, it is the principle of Superposition that can undo any power of the gods. For the accumulation of smaller actions has the ability to create, destroy, and move the world.

Can your ex-pastor prove that atheists as we know them today did not exist back then? If he can't, he just lied.

Quote:1 The fool[a] says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
Non sequitur

Quote:They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
Demonstrably false

Quote:2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
Oh, bu hu!
Quote:there is no one who does good,
not even one.
Again, false.

Quote:4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on the LORD.
Again, bu frickin hu
Quote:5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
no we are not
Quote:for God is present in the company of the righteous.
no he is not
Quote:6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the LORD is their refuge.
Now he's just got it backwards.
Quote:7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
We shall see. We shall see.

I want to rip off your superstitions and make passionate sense to you

I called him on that, but like a good apologist. He tells me that there were no atheists at the time in Babylon where the Jews were at during the exile. Jews never meet atheists and under their eyes there are no such thing as atheists. lol
