The Baking Thread

I know some of you must bake too. How bout a thread dedicated to baking?

I have banana bread in the oven, and the house is filled with the smell. It was amazing to walk into after shoveling the walk on a brisk night.

Man I love how smells from the kitchen can affect the mood of the whole house. Right now mine = cosy, warm and quiet. All is well in the Raving house.

In other news, I've been slow cooking meat for shredded beef tacos and my house smells like noms.

Ok, ok, there was a few "special muffins" set aside for the adults. Made some homemade butter frosting for them too. Awesome.

Cinnamon"rolls" (turned out a little dry because I wasn't used to the gas oven at the time)


Zwetschgendatschi and I have no clue if that cake exists outside Bavaria but it is with plums and stuff. Very yummy.

I adore Zwetschgendatschi! The scent alone makes my mouth water! It doesn't have any crumbs on top in Bavaria though.

I don't bake anything I can't throw in my bread machine. Just never got into it. I did make banana bread for a while years ago, that stuff is too good.

I agree, the scent alone is wonderful. Especially freshly baked and it fills the whole kitchen
But I have to disagree on the crumbs:
I am a Bavarian original and I have never had Zwetschgendatschi without the buttercrumbs. Not from the bakery and not from home. Might be special for my area though, dunno. I am originally from Munich.
I know they also sell it without the crumbs sometimes, but I don't feel satisfied without the crumbs!
