wow, ok, that is indeed curious. o.O
I thought it might be area specific but apparently.... Whatever.
Zwetschgendatschi is the maybe best cake on the planet and that is what counts!
Zwetschgendatschi and Apfelstrudel! heh

My mom made Apfeldatschi too - no crumbs there either.

Now Apfelstrudel is another matter alltogether...

Last time I was in Munich I was walking down the street and suddenly found myself entering a store - the scent of fresh Krapfen was like a magnet I could not escape...

It was nothing personal, really. I just operate on a first come, first served basis, you know...

Yes they have great ones. And I miss them too. I can get frozen ones here that go in the oven - ok but not the same.

Now there is something you should bake.....

RE: The Baking Thread
Just to make everyone hungry again:

chocolate walnut cake

[Image: 1192u74.jpg]

This cake is special because:
* No added sugar
* No butter or oil
* Not milk

Instead of sugar I used a liquid sweetener, no brand and I can't tell you what exactly it is because my Romanian sucks but I could not see aspartam or acesulfam on the label so no clue what it is.
Instead of milk I simply used water.
Instead of butter or oil there is chocolate in the cake and that was enough.

For diabetics, I am very sure you can use the chocolate for diabetics just as well or you simply put some butter and cocoa instead of normal chocolate, and a little more of the sweetener. Won't make much of a difference for the taste but probably a little less BE as the sugar from the normal chocolate is missing.
