The Blues Thread
So I'm bored and somewhat nauseated from the various pedo threads, but I∧I started posting some Blues in there and I realized we ain't got no Blues thread. I'm leading off with I∧I's Sam "Lightnin'" Hopkins viddy 'cause it's fucking good. Tongue

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

RE: The Blues Thread
Johnny Lang did a good job on that song too. Saw him in concert a few years back, he was about 16 at the time.

Like the blues, Stevie Ray, BB King, Albert King...picked up a cool mix a few years back while in Memphis...gritty stuff.

Love blues inspired guitar. Saw Clapton years ago on his "Nothing but the Blues Tour" it was great.

Favorite song is Tin Pan Alley, the version with Steve and BB is the best but I will listen to pretty much any version.

I'm not anti-social. I'm pro-solitude.

RE: The Blues Thread

"I went down to the crossroad
fell down on my knees
I went down to the crossroad
fell down on my knees
Asked the lord above "Have mercy now
save poor Bob if you please"
Yeeooo, standin at the crossroad
tried to flag a ride
ooo ooo eee
I tried to flag a ride
Didn't nobody seem to know me babe
everybody pass me by
Standin at the crossroad babe
risin sun goin down
Standin at the crossroad babe
eee eee eee, risin sun goin down
I believe to my soul now,
Poor Bob is sinkin down
You can run, you can run
tell my friend Willie Brown
You can run, you can run
tell my friend Willie Brown
(th)'at I got the croosroad blues this mornin Lord
babe, I'm sinkin down
And I went to the crossraod momma
I looked east and west
I went to the crossraod baby
I looked east and west
Lord, I didn't have no sweet woman
ooh-well babe, in my distress ..."

Much like Johnny Cantor is The Prophet of the Gwynnies, Robert Johnson is The Prophet of the Blues. Big Grin

RE: The Blues Thread
Well, now I gotta contribute something...

The only great bluesman I ever saw live (so far): late great Jeff Healey.

Talkin' bout white boys with the blues?

Muthafuckin blues.....

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.
