The belief... or the consideration of a literal Genesis is, of course, a lot older than the 1800s. But, the belief system of Young Earth Creationism was developed and made popular by Ellen White in the mid 1800s.

So, no... YEC is not a lot older.

There is a difference between considering a literal interpretation of Genesis and basing a whole system of theological belief around it.

My brother actually wrote a blog about her here.

He goes in detail about the origin of YEC with actual references and whatnot.
