The Dark Tower
I see they finally decided to make a TV version of TDT.

I checked out IMDB, and from what I see, about the only thing the books and the TV version have in common is the name, and a few characters.

Disappointing..

Par for the course. Most made for TV based on King is horrible. They're usually only worth watching if the campiness of it all is so ridiculous that it makes you laugh.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

RE: The Dark Tower
I'm still anxious for it. The secret to enjoying movies based on books (particularly really, really, really long books) is to not expect them to be the same. The reality is they could make a 6 part series of movies and still not cover a fraction of the material from the books and also have to take into consideration the different needs of the movie audience vs the readers if they expect to make any profit.

Plus they've got ratings to worry about. They seem to fuck every demon they come across, and I imagine a demon raping a legless black woman scene (a demon whom she "defeats" by counter raping it back) and using that opportunity to plant the gunslinger's sperm, which it milked from him when the succubus seduced him, would be hard to include and maintain a PG or R rating, and that little series of incidents is like central to the story line.

Agreed, The Mist is out now on tv and it's meh. I'm still going to go see DT though, if for nothing else Idris Elba Drooling

The Dark Tower movie is out in August isn't it?

I've only read the first book of the series, and found it to be "good" although it's hard work to get into at times. Will read on, and look forward to the movie as well Smile

For God's sake stop now! King got so tired of dear reader asking him to finish the story for 2 decades that he finally just said "You want a fucking ending, here's your fucking ending. Now fuck off." and coughed up probably one of the worst, most anticlimactic, unsatisfying endings ever. Asshole.

Endings have never been his strong point.

HA! I'm not sure when I'd pick up the next one, probably not for a long time, but I did enjoy the first one. I have heard its a bit "up and down" towards the end.

I recently read IT which was pretty good, until the latter few chapters where it goes a bit batshit insane Laugh out load

IT was the last King I tried to read.

Tried? oh dear Laugh out load How far did you get?

I did enjoy it, and a friend had even said "this was during his Cocaine issues, so you soon notice when it gets bad", and I'd nearly finished it thinking 'Hmm...I haven't seen anything that bad yet..', when the last 2-3 chapters just go off the scale of "What in the blue hell is this?" .

It'll be interesting to see what is included in the new movie of IT, as a fair ammount didn't make it into the original 2 part TV movie with Tim Curry, and could potentially be scary as shite. But that last section....I'm not sure it can be done on film. Not because it's too violent, because it's just mental.
