The Foundations Of Our Faith.
Believe it or not I have been observing how my conversations have been going since I joined.

So a lot of people here disagree with some of the things I believe. Its been a learning experience, and I believe I now know why they disagree with me so vehemently.

All of you have faith. Not in the government no, but of something much more biblical.

Is a religion a religion if it is not recognized even by those who adhere to it?

Feminism used to be a very powerful movement that didn't have so much negativity attached to it, but people took it to the extreme... and it gained a horrid reputation.

I've noticed, in my observations of debates here and elsewhere, the nature of humanity keeps coming up as a way to discredit conspiracies. 'they'd talk, the government is to incompetent' etc.

Humanism. Like feminism, humanism is a good thing, I myself am a humanist. But if taken to the extreme those who adhere to it will end up like the extreme feminists. Humanism is where your faith lays, and it is in humanism which I must attack before you even start to consider believing in conspiracy theories.

This came to me, when I was discussing things with socialistview. He was trying to prove his religion to all of us by using the bible. I told him, he needed to first convince us that a god existed.

But I know full well when debating with a Christian, the bible is the primary target to show them the contradictions of their faith. Because if you try proving or disproving a god, you'll always end up in a stalemate because a god can not be proved or disproved.

That's what I was doing, I was trying to disprove a god to everyone, when I really actually needed to start with the bible, your bible. The nature of humans themselves.

Faith is a good thing to have, but you have to much faith, and it blinds you brothers. I did say I would stop trying to convince people of conspiracy theories, and I am done with that.

But I never said anything about disproving your bible. Not in this thread no, but in another one when I am well and ready, and less tired. Now that I think about it though, I suppose you could say rehabilitation is a lot like faith healing its not so bad for minor ailments, but both of them have dire consequences when the ailment is severe enough.

Likewise god is like a conspiracy theory because no matter how much evidence you have, like the theory of evolution, biology, anthropology, and the static universe theory etc. People still somehow believe in a god, particularly the gods of the religion they were raised with, which of course was a form of indoctrination. A person's beliefs in a conspiracy is certainly a lot like a person's belief in a god.

I can not expect immediate results if this is the case, it took me years to overcome the hurdle of religion, slowly and surely though my old faith was eroded away. So it is a war of patience which I must contend with... and I am a patient man. Or at least I try to be.

You attempt to limit "faith" to a single meaning/usage. Fuck you.

Does "try a different tack" mean "adjust your sailing configuration?" I was just wondering.

Faith has many meanings, it would be very insolent of me to only attach one definition to the word. If you can not distinguish between the definitions that is not my fault but your own lack of understanding for the english vocabulary.

Yes obviously. I just used the word faith here because I knew it would rile people up (due to their very poor understanding of the english language I believe, or at least it seems they seem to think the word faith can only ever have one meaning), if a man is going to be journeying the sea, he might as well enjoy himself while he does so.

Its like using the imperial system in post revolutionary France, people didn't choose the metric because it was inherently better, it was created because of a severe hatred for anything and everything that had any connotation to the monarchy. Despite the Imperial system being just as good in those days.

Believe it or not we say you're full of shit because you *are* full of shit. This is not hard. You are a living breathing example of inability to comprehend how fucking stupid you are, in other words, cognitive dissonance, so you invent these convenient explanations and pat yourself on the back for being so clever.

God you're pathetic.

At work.

Hello CelestialWonder! Big Grin

So, to paraphrase better speakers/writers than I:

Come at me Bro!

Indeed, let us have discourse. Where you give your opinions and I shall share mine.

Thumbsup

So,

*Swings the willow experentally as they step into the crease*

I'll provisionally identify as a 'Non-theist naturally inclined humanist.'

*Watches ball fly off randomly into mid field... Doesn't make an attemp to run*

I await your next run up, cheers! Thumbsup

It could be a little while before that day comes, what with work tiring me out and the holidays just around the corner.

It will be nice though to have someone to engage in a discussion with who doesn't use swear words

Not to worry though. Should my dander rise I'll cuss well enough.
