The GOP is now eating its own.

What will it take to move everyone to a moderate position?

RE: The Freedom Caucus
Conservatives love throwing around the term "freedom" with no idea on what it means.

Presumably you're referring to Murikan Conservatives.

It's a cultural irony-deficiency.

Everyone else knows that "freedom" is synonymous with 'liberal'.

In other words, pocket-Napoleons don't work well in democratic institutions.

They have no integrity. They can be pro-authoritarian as evidenced in their position on police brutality against blacks and anti-authority - Cliven Bundy and his band of nuts -
without batting an eyelid.

Au contraire: they're saving the GOP. They know--and so does the rest of the party--that if the GOP starts actually governing, rather than continuing with politics as posturing and theater--they'll be accountable for the outcomes. They're going to stall until the Democrats win a majority in the House and/or Senate and then go back to being the party of no.

If the GOP stays in control of everything in 2018, my bet is that they will mostly pass social legislation limiting the rights of women, immigrants, and people with non-Christian perspectives. Nine-judge SCOTUS will let them get away with it, too.

More than once I've heard a GOP member say that it is much easier to say no than to lead and govern. Yeah, who would have thunked?

They all have read and understood George Orwell. They just took the wrong lesson from reading him.
