For starters not all Satanists are bonkers.
Yeah, I understand. I was just kidding.

...but a tv spot with a bonkers guy doesn't help in your PR.

Even the "Atheist" label has a bad reputation in parts of the world, particularly USA.

Perception matters, you don't want to be turning people off on their first impression.

No, I wasn't commenting about Dark Phoenix's efforts.
I was commenting about that TV clip.

Very interesting DP. I found Airportkid's response rather well stated too. However, you presented this in a clear manner without any sign of a strawman of the Satanic belief.

Oh...and I loved this line:

Quote:There is no longer any need to compare different faith claims and judge who god is revealing his word to, and who is getting a divine prank call.

Brilliant!!! Thumbsup

RE: The God of Satanism
Many people love the first half of the Satanic Bible as it is about the real world and makes fun of things like prayer. Then the second half contradicts all that by having rituals and prayers and stuff. I know they say it is just psychodrama to release emotions or what ever and do not expect it to effect the real world. But then so many of them do brag about real world results they get from doing the rituals.

April 16 is fast approaching. I shall celebrate by going to the store, buy a big bag of chocolate Easter Bunnies and biting off their heads. This is as close to religious ritual as I get.

RE: The God of Satanism
For some people the power of ritual is very useful and effective. But I would not choose a ritualistic system that seems deliberately crafted to be misunderstood and loathed. People fear The Other enough, without identifying in people's minds with pea-soup vomit and basso-profundo voices emanating from young girls whose heads can turn 360 degrees.

Then again, some people just like being provocative. Maybe Satanism is the purple mohawk of religions, I don't know.
