The Great British Baking Show - New Season
It's on now. PBS

I love this show on PBS. The best baking show on TV. Smile

It's a great competition and I've learned a ton of stuff.

IDK why they changed it this year. I do know that often happens though when it's broadcast in another country.

No, no spoilers please and thank you! Smile

RE: The Great British Baking Show - New Season
My daughter's English boyfriend brought me the cookbook from the first season as a present.
It's AMAZING, even though I'm more of a cook than a baker, and even when you can't find some of the ingredients (five spice, golden syrup ...), the results are DELISH!

I don't know where you are but the more high end grocers carry the McCormick brand of Five-Spice. I use it in oriental cooking too. Makes awesome Peking Duck. Also, you can get it online.

I will look for the cookbooks. Great idea! Big Grin

5 spice is sold in Asian grocers.
Maple syrup will do in place of golden.

I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

Unfortunately, the "five spice" sold in Canadian asian grocery stores (when you can find it) is not really as good as the stuff from Europe. There are recipes online to make your own 5 spice, though it can get pricey to buy all five spices individually for a 1/4 teaspoon of five spice Smile
And maple syrup, which I've used in a pinch for the sticky gingerbread recipe, doesn't have the same viscosity as golden syrup, exactly. It works, but it's not the same; the gingerbread doesn't get stickier with time.
