I have a Glock and an AK-47. I must be an insane sociopath.

You are. The AK is a piece of shit, and the Glock is clunky. Tongue

To each his own.

My AK has never failed. Goes bang every time.

And if my Glock had a vagina, I'd fuck it. Love Glock.

What do you like for a sidearm? I know a lot of guys don't like AK's because they're the poor mans battle rifle. But what's your ideal system?

i was mostly just having fun with you. Smile

I don't care much for the AK due to it's inelegant design and construction. I understand that it is an excellent solution to the problem of ease and expense of manufacture and probably maintenance. I also think the ballistics of 7.62x39 are mediocre.
I don't hate them, I just wouldn't bother having one.

Glock's don't fit my hand well and they are too boxy for good concealment. Again, they are a good firearm, just not for me. My current carry gun is a Ruger SP-101 in .327 Magnum.

My favorite battle rifle is the M14 design. I've had an M1A and it was reliable and accurate. I also had an FN-FAL - also an excellent rifle, but heavy.

I've also come to admire the AR-10 and AR-15 families.

I've had feed problems with the few 30-round mags I've tried, so I just quit using them.

Granted I've only used M-16's and M-4's, but I've never had significant feed problems. I like the 30 round mags though mostly because it is easy to rest the magazine on the deck in the prone position. Gives you a stable shooting platform, and it makes it a comfortable height for me when I'm not wearing body armor. Aside from that, more is always better.

It's been several years (hmmm, maybe more) since I tried any thirties and the technology (springs, materials, tolerances) may well have improved. However, in Massachusetts, I can only legally possess pre-ban (pre-1994) magazines larger that 10-round.
