The Mormon brain on religion
This was a small study and it reconfirms what has been known already but I like to read stuff like this anyway. This study looked at the Mormon brain while in prayer and religious thought and......well, I'll let the article tell you.

They should do the same thing using Muslims and Hindus. I'm sure they'd find the same thing happens in the brain which proves that god is just a mental thought, nothing more.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

RE: The Mormon brain on religion
Whenever I read studies like this it always reminds me of the Xians I've met that tell me how sad it is that I can't feel the love and joy that they feel when they think of God and/or Jesus or even the Virgin Mary.

Ummm yeah, it's just in your head, literally where we all feel love and joy and just as passionately as any believer can, if not more since we don't go around wasting time "loving" or trying to please imaginary beings, we can give all our love and attention to our real life human loved ones or furry little baby loves ones like my dog or other pets..or whatever.

Feeling happiness because this fictional being loves you is the same as imagining Harry Potter loves you, I mean you'd be a way better match for him than Ginny right? I totally agree by the way, she's so boring.

RE: The Mormon brain on religion
A couple of comments re that article...

Quote:Most Americans, about 89%, say they believe in God, and some have felt God's presence while listening to a sermon or sensed time stand still while they were in deep prayer or meditation.

Can this possibly be correct? Seriously? (I'm having trouble believing this.)

Quote:Billions of people make important decisions in life based on spiritual and religious feelings and experiences. It's one of the most powerful influences on our social behavior, said Dr. Jeffrey Anderson

I totally refute these assertions. This guy's personal opinion? No citations re this? As an adult, I've not once ever made any important decision based on fucking religious principles. And alcohol has a far greater impact on my social behaviour than any sky-daddy ever has—like none.

And professor Jordan Grafman says that religious belief "is one of the things that make us human, right?" No mate; it's only potentially one of a multitude of things that make us human (as distinct from animals presumably?) but certainly not a paramount thing.

Incidentally, they should've shown some sort of "control" images to these devout Mormons—like a porno video.

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.
