The Obameter
For all the Republicans spouting that Obama doesn't follow through on his promises, I send them to this site.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/...er/browse/

Notice the 26 pages of Promise Kept or In the Works. Then notice that damn near every "Stalled" "Compromise" or "Promise Broken" was caused by Republicans.

"Repeal the Bush tax cuts for higher incomes" - Promise Broken
"Phase out exemptions and deductions for higher earners" - Promise Broken
Gee, I wonder why that happened?

And if you're still not impressed, consider that he has only been in office for 2 years and a month.

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."

That man impresses me more and more every month. I truly hope we can get a full 8 with him in office.

His health care thing didn't work in the end though. I hear all the insurance companies keep jacking up the prices every month and everybody is forced to pay.

Not everybody is forced to pay. I still don't have insurance and nobody has said a thing to me about it. He had the best of intentions with it, the purpose behind it was to protect the little people. Insurance companies were dropping people as soon as they got sick, and refusing to cover certain people. The laws Obama put into place changed that so the sick could still get healthcare. The greedy folks in the insurance companies and on the republican side have done as much as they can to harm the average American citizen.

Maybe if we do he can actually manage to assassinate an American citizen and further violate the Constitution. Or maybe we can bail the banks out of another financial crises since we didn't do jack to solve the basic problems. Or, maybe we can find new ways to spy on Americans. Or, my personal favorite, maybe he will manage to pass the law that he's proposed where th government can basically shut down the internet, ala Mubarak in Egypt, for our "protection" should the need arise.

For all the Bush haters out there who now swoon over Obama, I point you to words of the wisest of sages, Pete Townsend: "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

I didn't say the man was perfect. I'm very leery of the spying deal, especially with the rumors that a new spy satellite was recently launched into orbit. But I must say, I have yet to see anybody offer any valid accusations at constitutional violations on his part (especially when compared to the other pres you mentioned...) and I honestly wonder where in left field the "assassinate an American citizen" comment came from. I'm liberal because my idea on our politicians is this: Democrats are holding our hands and walking us to hell. Republicans/tea partiers have us bound, gagged and stuffed into the trunk of a very expensive sports car and are driving us to hell at 200 mph. I would rather take my time getting there, and furthermore I cannot support a side of the political spectrum that just a couple months ago told the American public to it's face that nothing we need is as important as tax breaks for millionaires.

The 5th Amendment to the US Constitution states, amongst other things, that no person shall be deprived of life or liberty without due process of law. During the previous administration President Hayseed signed an order that gave him the unilateral right to order the killing of US citizens that Bush, in his infinite and completely fallible judgment, determined were direct threats to the US. Not only does the US constitution not allow this but it expressly prohibits it, and yet Hayseed went and did it anyway.

So, along comes Obama who runs on a platform of returning to the rule of law. What does he then do about this program? He endorses it and continues to claim this authority. You can google this and find probably dozens of articles if you care to look. So much for the rule of law.

And, of course, the Patriot Act in all its glory was signed up to again.

As was the continued spying on Americans without warrants.

For all the commentary on Obama, both pro and con, I really don't see the difference between him and Bush on these issues.

These gave me a sad face. I have become more politically active the older I have gotten, and I wrote my rep about the Patriot Act. That was BS. I am interested in this ability to kill a US citizen deal. I must research that, I'm sure you will forgive my skepticism?

Of course. Please don't take the word of some random person on the internet. Absolutely do your own research and see what you discover.
