RE: The Old Testament and the New Covenant--help
Most people I find love to take the bible literally, except when it comes to parts that conflict with what they want to do.

Like wearing clothes made from two different fabrics....

Or eating pork.

Yeah...then, they'll spin like a top to justify their choice.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Has she read Romans 1?

She has probably read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 which say that homosexual practice is a sin but like any other sin it can be forgiven. Here are two site that can help you understand what the Bible says about homosexuality:

There has never been a time it was necessary to do certain things to be saved. Salvation has always been by faith in Christ. If you read Romans 4:1-3 you will see that Abraham was justified by faith just as we are today. In the Old Testament people were saved by faith that God would send a redeemer to take away their sins. Today we are saved by faith that God has already sent that redeemer.

The information in ancient libraries came from real minds of real people. The far more complex information in cells came from the far more intelligent mind of God.

RE: The Old Testament and the New Covenant--help
Quote:2. Jebus never said anything about establishing a "new covenant". When the young man in Matthew asked him what he must do to gain eternal life, Jebus said to him (supposedly), "keep the commandments". He DID NOT say, "just wait, I'll be dying for you".

Good point, Buck. You'd have to think that one (at least) of his advisers would have said "Hey, Boss....I think we need a better plan."

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

I find it odd that she can believe so heavily in a book that would condemn her to death for being a homosexual. She pulls thing out of her backside and says that God accepts her now because Jesus. I don't understand how she can ignore the fact that the God she believes in did all those horrible things in the Old Testament. How can she ignore the fact that this God told people to kill her?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I have heard and read things about this subject, but I can't seem to put together a simple argument for her. I have ADHD and sometimes my brain just doesn't want to join ideas together in a coherent way. Thanks in advance.
No one can understand the scriptures without the Holy Spirit. But your sister is right. In Jesus her sins are condemned in the flesh. That is to say she can't help the desires of her flesh. If she indeed is in the body of Christ, she will love others as herself through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
