RE: The One True Jelly
I'm surrounded by pagans and infidels.

People, this is not that complicated. You eat Welch's Grape Jelly, avoid the temptation of thsee other false spreads, or you suffer eternal damnation, just like it says on the back of the label.

How hard is this to grasp?

What are we supposed to eat it on?

My mother in law does the jar gravy bit...

I remember being 20 and thinking I'd never knew it came that way. My grandmother was a terrible cook, but the woman rocked the gravy.

Facepalm You just had to go there! Now there's gonna be another schism in the Jelly Church, over the bread issue. I prefer pumpernickel.

If I'm doing pb&j, I prefer white bread, even more preferably fresh from my oven.

Even tho, I suck at bread baking.

Ours is a religion based on jelly. Thou may spread it upon whatever floats your particular boat. As long as you spread it.

But shouldn't the peanut butter be the crunchy kind? Consider

I found that most of the freezer jam recipes call for too much sugar so I put less. I love sugar but wow, it was too much even for me.

the pectin requires a certain amount of sugar to work. Once you go below that threshold it does not set at all. You have basically ice cream topping, which isn't a bad thing Big Grin

I make mass quantities of both cooked and freezer and I play the sugar game.
