The Purpose of Philosophy
Just curious here, what is the exact purpose of philosophy? Does philosophy develop a new way of thinking? Is philosophy just conjecture and language play? Or does philosophy help us understand the world better?

RE: The Purpose of Philosophy
I think it represents the love of Sofia.

It may actually be the study of the capital of Bulgaria.

it's basic design is to question things or find new ways to question things.

This constant questioning opens up space for new ideas.

... and as such was the precursor to the scientific method.

See the religious types cling to it.

Science and technology will kill their gods. Philosophy only questions them.

Hey, Erxomai started it, not me Weeping

But you're right about the mental m... oh, I can't type that word...Wink
However, even when it was a more or less legitimate search for truth it could be extremely annoying in how everybody seemed to think that they and they alone knew the "true" truth and had to share it with the stupider masses.
Not trying to knock it down, it's just that there's a lot of arrogance in the world of philosophy, even though they've never come up (and couldn't possibly come up) with as much answers as science has and will continue to.
