RE: The Rebuttal of the Noachian Flood - by Creationists
Is this notion of a different nature in the past a new argument on the creationist scene? I haven't encountered it before except for another instance of it on the Debating Christianity and Religion Forum*. Here is the opening post of a thread entitled "The different nature in the past allows literal Genesis":

"Science today is based on the nature and laws of today. If the nature was not the same, then things like people living 1000 years could be natural in the former nature. The question is does science know it was this same nature that existed or not? The anser[sic] is no. It only assumed it was."

And these are the stumbling blocks that all theists face. One must utilise scientific principles to investigate biblical claims—there is no logical alternative. And to imply that one "needs" religion to understand science is truly absurd—no rational person utilises fantasy to establish fact. Big Grin

Quote:So just from biblical text, I know that water did not originally flow downhill.

I have to admit to being a little lost for words in order to address this gem! At any rate, your lack of scientific know-how is showing here. Water doesn't flow "downhill"; it follows the path of least resistance towards the earth's centre of gravity.

Quote:In chapter 1 of Genesis, G-d commanded water to gather into one place, and dry land appeared. So that is an example of G-d changing the nature of things.

Uh... no it isn't. It's just an "example" of the scientific illiteracy of the disparate group of ill-educated desert nomads that cobbled the bible together.

Quote:Before the flood, there were no rainbows. And yet, the text says that G-d caused a mist to descend to the ground. That should have created a rainbow in our reality. But rainbows didn't exist until after the flood. So there are two examples of the nature of reality being changed.

Oh shit... are you seriously citing this sort of fantasy as scientific reality? I'll be fucked mate; I think you are! Facepalm

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.

Popcorn

My strategy of ignoring my problems until they disappear never seems to work out for me. ...I'll try to get around to dealing with that in the near future.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Actually, no. He will just use his standard approach: Pretending not to try to convince anybody of anything. Thats his magical (pun intended) get out of jail free card for claiming bullshit without being able to back it up. At least he thinks so.

It just makes me wonder, why he is in an atheist online forum anyhow if he doesnt care
#1 what people think of his beliefs and their truthfulness
#2 about a common ground for discussing all things *reality*. After all, everybody else could start to claim bullshit all day long too and refuse to back it up.

Ceterum censeo, religionem delendam esse
