Not enough usually I go through the cycle of sleeping for a bit and then waking up. Only problem is that when a wake up its takes forever to go back to sleep.

When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.

You cannot successfully determine beforehand which side of the bread to butter.

I get my 8 hours, 7 hour nights and a couple of power naps during the day. Works for me these days.

As teenager I never wanted to get up and I never wanted to go to bed. I could pull all nighters or I could sleep all day and all night. It didn't matter. It was all good.

Then came the professional world in my 20s and 30s, never enough sleep. Probably 5 or 6 hour nights, no naps and always tired.

Then I learned to ease up and went to regular 8 hour nights. Bliss.

Now I like a mix of decent nights and power naps. I am always full of energy, so it must be the right thing for me now.

I think our needs and wants regarding sleep change over the years.

I find six hours of sleep hits the nail on the head for me. I wake up once during the night, at about the three hour mark. I get up, spend a few minutes out of the bedroom, then go right back to bed. Seems to work for me. I am a morning person, so sleeping in doesn't happen. If I stay up til four am, I'll still be up at six. Can't help it.

Was single about 5 years ago now and got at least 8 to ten hours of sleep per day. Married now with a house. Most nights I am lucky to get 4 hours of sleep, because I work nights and have chores during the day. On 2 of my nights (soon to be 3) off, I get about 8 or 9 hours depending on when I finally crash and have no choice but to fall asleep. I am working hard at getting a more normal schedule allowing me to be home at night.

I do sleep, but it's not a sleep one would consider 'normal'. Or 'restful'. The Tourettes Syndrome gave me a gift at the age of three - night terrors. It sort of became apparent when I started yelling obscenities around that age. At first, my parents thought I was possessed. Little did they know (for twenty odd years) that it was the TS.

Every night before I go to sleep, I have two options: giving into the rush of adrenaline (somehow I don't produce enough sleepy stuff), or staying up way later than usual.

I can hear noises from all my neighbors, so that means that I end up waking up at every little noise. Most of the time, I don't remember waking up. Also, across the street there is a receiving area for a local hardware store, and inside of it there is a diesel powered contraption that starts up every twenty minutes. It's like having an 18 wheeler cab start its engines to make sure everything is up and running and then shuts it all off - lather rinse repeat. It's extremely annoying, and yes, you guessed it; I wake up.

My dreams are some of the most fucked up since as long as I can remember, and I had to study up on methods to take control of my dreams at an early age just to keep the night terrors original, or it was the same shit all over again and I would remember it too, while in the dream state. It's like being forced to go through a personalized impending doom scenario, knowing exactly what's going to happen, and not being able to do fuck all. But with the bonus of that skills I've learned about dream control, I'm able to turn some of the night terrors into the funnest playgrounds. Oddly enough, it reminds me of First Person Shooter games.

Sometimes I'm a quarter awake, and see things like people standing next to my bed, animals or moving dark smoke in my room, and voices speaking from nowhere. I know it's my subconscious not making any sense of the real world, and since my eyes are only open a bit, it matrixes everything around me. Most of the time creepy, sometimes heartbreaking since I call out a deceased pets name.

I don't take sleeping meds. Why? Hell, the cost is too much! I'd rather rely on tiring myself out than spending a months pay in a week on those suckers. I do remember the only time I took it, though. I remember falling asleep while trying to take off a pair of shoes. I had to be escorted to bed. I was feeling so fiiiiiiine, though. I was babbling nonsensical musings, but don't remember exactly what I said.

What I do for myself now is listen to music before I sleep. For years it was the MYST soundtracks. Lately, it's been a mix of that and the sounds of Jupiter, and also an album called 'Pale Blue Dot'. No words in my nighttime music - my brain will wake up and try to process the meanings, or screw them up and I wake up all 'What? Is it morning already?' and it isn't.

I do know for me, when the sun goes down, the sleepy stuff does get in my system. But because it shoots off badly, the 'fight or flight' thing kicks in. If I'm lucky and don't see the sun setting, it's not as bad. It's like, if it can't see me, I can't see it. It's a strange little agreement.

So yeah, I'm not able to tick any options of the poll, because I'm not sure how much 'real' sleep I get. I can only tell once I wake up if it was a good night or a bad night. But I truck on because if I don't, then I know I'm a goner.

I'm in High School.

Generally, on school nights I get 2-3 hours of sleep, if any. I often pull all nighters. Then, on weekends, I just kind of crash and sleep for 13-15 hours. That way I can recharge enough to manage functioning on little to no sleep for the rest of the week.

It's probably not the most healthy routine, but it works for me.

On a "school night" I normally go to bed late between 12-1am and up 5am for work. This used to be Monday to Friday until work spread everybody hours between Tuesday to Friday so now I have three day weekends. Bowing

I sleep in on these days, I normally go to sleep about the same time as in the week but I get up between 9-11am.

Im very good at going to sleep.... the only times I struggle is when I have something massive on my mind or im excited about something happening the next day... the only other times I struggle is when I am sleeping with a girlfriend. I dont like sharing my bed and cant sleep cuddling and normally have to face away from them.... dunno why Huh

Ive give up smoking weed completley... its been 11 days since I have had any and im really enjoying the crazy dreams im having... I dont think you sleep properly when your high and I dont miss waking up feeling groggy.

The longest I have stayed up for is about 60 hours.... tiredness comes and goes in waves when you stay up for that long.... I was really hallucinating and I remember talking to my friend Dale as I dropped off on that occasion (except my friend Dale wasnt actually in my room ha ha)
