The State of the Union speech tonight ...
I will watch; it's interesting political theater. The Republican response will be particularly interesting.

Who will be watching? Why or why not?

I'd like to, but between two kids a basketball game and friends from out of town coming over I doubt I'll get to catch any of it. Oh well, I can catch the good parts later on Fox I'm sure. Dodgy

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

I read the leaked story already. I may watch still. I found it interesting the leaked story said he would avoid mentioning Social Darwinism, which of course made me stop to read it.

I wont be. Because I can't be fucked and because I got better shit to do and because it wont be on TV here and because even if it was on TV I don't have a TV to watch it anyway. And because it'll no doubt be a load of shit.

RE: The State of the Union speech tonight ...
I used to watch the SoU every single year. I used to hang on every word. I used to watch every debate. I used to follow every election - state, local, federal, etc. I was the epitomy of informed voter.

One day I figured out that a) my vote matters as much as people who dont pay any attention and b) the two parties agree on 95% of all issues and it didn't matter which empty suit I voted for.

I still watch the debates every 4 years and I still vote, although i vote pretty much exclusively 3rd party. My own personal protest against what I see as a massively corrupt system. But, I won't watch the SoU tonight. If I want to be lied to, I can ask my wife if I look like I lost any of the weight I put on from the holidays.

I am a republican. I won't be watching. I can't stand politics and in general, it really doesn't effect my day to day life. No amount of watching is going to change the fact that I pay almost 40% of my income to the government. Hobo

I just got an update about it. If my Whitehouse app works, I will watch it.

If it doesn't, it's not worth trying to find the remote to the big tv -- trying to change it from Netflix settings, find the regular tv mode we never use, and find a channel.
