Should every person with business ties to a foreign country be barred from politics? I'm fine if we go down that road but it's not illegal as of now. These same people probably have business ties to Iran or China or a million other places. But because Russia hacked the DNC and Podesta anyone with prior business with Russia is now suspect? If Trump was colluding with Russia through people he knows, he sure wasn't trying to hide it. These things seem more like coincidental to me. Trump is a businessman. He knows people in business that have ties in every country. If China hacked the DNC, the same people would be brought up. Paul Manafort visited China in 2012. Jeff Sessions had a few meetings with the Chinese ambassador. Christopher Wray's law firm represented Chinese investors blah blah blah.

Are you forgetting that, during the campaign, Trump invited the Russians to hack Hillary Clinton's emails? That's not innuendo or fake news -- it was a direct, widely quoted public statement from Trump himself. And in my opinion, at least, it constitutes interfering in our election.

Well there you go. No need for a special prosecutor. Trump asked Russia on national TV to find Hillary's missing emails. Direct collusion. He didn't need all those intermediaries after all. Boom. Impeach him.

The fact that he does this - your president - doesn't faze you at all? Of course it's all politics, but generally even the dumbest politicians have the sense to stop short of openly inviting other states to interfere in their internal matters. What do you actually think of his quote? Was it ill-advised? An obvious joke?

I'm surprised Putin hasn't used that line yet, "What? We just did what your President told us to do." He will. Right before he releases the pee tape.

It being a trump quote he of course thinks it's wonderful. He's one of the unmindful crowd in thrall to personality, not principle. It's not a matter of trump doing something because it's the right thing to do, for him it's the right thing to do because trump does it. WHAT trump does doesn't matter - if HE does it, it's good. trump could rape a 9 year old boy in Times Square at noon and then shoot him and while his base supporters might be a little surprised they would instantly defend it - because it was trump doing it, so it's right and good by definition.

trump supporters are not rule of law types, they are followers of personality. The "who" is all that matters, not the "what".

RE: The Trump Impeachment Thread
I came across a quote about Donald trump from ultra conservative, William F Buckley. He wrote this in Cigar Aficionado magazine. (I had no idea such a magazine existed!)

Anyway, he wrote this in 2000 when trump was considering running for president. Here it is for your reading enjoyment:

Look for the narcissist. The most obvious target in today’s lineup is, of course, Donald Trump. When he looks at a glass, he is mesmerized by its reflection. If Donald Trump were shaped a little differently, he would compete for Miss America. But whatever the depths of self-enchantment, the demagogue has to say something. So what does Trump say? That he is a successful businessman and that that is what America needs in the Oval Office. There is some plausibility in this, though not much. The greatest deeds of American Presidents — midwifing the new republic; freeing the slaves; harnessing the energies and vision needed to win the Cold War — had little to do with a bottom line.

Buckley goes on to say...

In the final analysis, just as the king might look down with terminal disdain upon a courtier whose hypocrisy repelled him, so we have no substitute for relying on the voter to exercise a quiet veto when it becomes more necessary to discourage cynical demagogy, than to advance free health for the kids. That can come later, in another venue; the resistance to a corrupting demagogy should take first priority.

And that was written by a very conservative republican. It's sad that the Religious Right Party (once known as republicans) has gone so far to the right that they don't see a demagogue when one comes their way.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

No shocker there. If the reports that he asked Coats and Roberts to intervene with the Flynn investigation are true then things are much worse for Trump than he seems to think.

He's going to hate Comey. Comey refused to cooperate and caused trump to fire him. That caused Mueller to be called in. Which caused the investigation.

Also, Mueller is shielding himself.

So, Comey's refusal to say that trump was not under investigation resulted in trump being under investigation.
